On April 11, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with the Transitional President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, in Antalya.
Army.az reports that the Presidential Press Service published a statement on this.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his satisfaction with the changes taking place in Syria and congratulated Ahmed Al-Sharaa on this.
The head of state said that after the changes, an Azerbaijani delegation was sent to this country as soon as possible, and the Azerbaijani embassy in Syria, which had been inactive for a long time due to the policies of the Assad regime, resumed its activities.
President Ilham Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan is ready to participate in the reconstruction process in Syria, which is necessary to strengthen stability in this country.
Ahmed Al Shaara expressed gratitude to the head of state for the support of the Azerbaijani side.
He noted the importance of Azerbaijan’s support for Syria in the future in the fields of energy, infrastructure, and security.
Ahmed Al Shaara, who said he was doing everything he could to restore stability in Syria, nevertheless expressed concern about the influence of external factors on this issue.
During the conversation, the issue of developing the Azerbaijan-Syria-Turkey trilateral cooperation format was also touched upon.
At the meeting, an agreement was reached on mutual visits between our countries of high-level official delegations and representatives of business circles.
The head of state invited Ahmed Al-Sharaa to visit our country.
The invitation was gratefully accepted.
