A US citizen who participated in a protest in Saraçhane to protest corruption and terrorism investigations against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has been deported from Turkey.
Army informs, citing Turkish media, that a person named Michael Anthony Ganoe arrived in Turkey on March 20.
It was determined that he had previously participated in demonstrations in Romania.
It was revealed that the US citizen had been posting on social media targeting court decisions and security forces in Turkey. Ganoe told police in his statement that he was an independent journalist and that he earned his living from the news he shared on social media.
After the relevant procedures, Ganoe and his Romanian partner, Daniel Alexandre Loctus, were deported to their countries on charges of “inciting hatred and enmity.”
