Pope Francis, who was hospitalized on February 14, appeared before the faithful for the first time in five weeks.
According to Army, he went out onto the balcony of one of the windows of the Agostino Gemelli hospital in Rome to give a traditional Sunday blessing and was then released from the medical facility.
Hundreds of people gathered outside the hospital. The Pope, who was receiving intensive oxygen therapy, said in a weak voice, “Thank you all.”
He will receive additional treatment at the Vatican’s Santa Marta Hotel, his residence, especially to restore his voice. His activities have been significantly restricted.
